Gum Disease Symptoms
We will provide annual periodontal exams in order to ensure we catch even the earliest signs of the disease. However, it is up to you to be aware of any signs/symptoms or risks. One of the most common signs of gingivitis (earliest stage of gum disease) can include: bleeding gums when you brush or floss, stubborn bad breath, red or swollen gum tissue. As the disease advances to later stages patients may notice a bad taste in the mouth and even loose teeth. If you have any of these signs or symptoms, please give us a call right away. If gum disease is not treated you can experience major recession of your gum tissue, lost teeth, and as mentioned above; gum disease can contribute to or exacerbate a multitude of systemic problems.
At Health Centered Dentistry we are equipped to treat your periodontal issues gently and compassionately. There are different treatment options that may include scaling and root planning, antimicrobial treatment, or antibiotic treatment. After a full assessment we can determine the best course of action for your specific needs.
