Vitamin C, Zinc, & pH Level Tests

Levels Tested Annually

Vitamin C

Vitamin C is an important antioxidant. It helps rebuild tissue, promotes healthy gums, aids in iron absorption and wound healing, and is important to detoxification.

We test your Vitamin C level by placing a Vitamin C compound on your tongue. We then begin counting the seconds until the color disappears. If the solution disappears under 20 seconds, you have a Normal level of Vitamin C. If it takes over 20 seconds, you are Vitamin C deficient and require follow-up with your general practitioner.

Zinc

Zinc is an essential nutrient that is crucial for, growth and development, tissue health, wound healing, energy level maintenance, and mood regulation.

We test your Zinc level by placing a few zinc sulfate drops on your tongue at a time. The results are dependent on the number of drops it takes before you start to recognize a difference in taste or texture.

Results: Optimal – An immediate, unpleasant, obviously adverse taste. Adequate – A definite but not strongly unpleasant taste noted immediately and tends to intensify with time. Quite Deficient – No taste initially, but develops in 10-15 seconds. Very Deficient – Tasteless or “tastes like water”.

pH Levels

Normal pH (Potential Hydrogen) for a healthy body is is 7.35 – 7.45. A pH of 7.0 is neutral. A pH below this is acidic and can create an environment of disease including an increased risk of caries. A pH above 7.0 is alkaline which creates better overall health. We determine your pH level through a simple saliva test.
