Cone Beam Computed Tomography, 3D Scans
Sirona Orthophos SL 3D
Dental CBCT is a special type of x-ray equipment used when regular dental or facial x-rays are not sufficient. This technology allows the doctor to get a 3-D image of your teeth, soft tissues, sinuses, nerve pathways and bone in a single scan.
We use this amazing equipment to help determine implant placement, sinus issues, panoramic images and more. Utilizing this equipment with the CEREC software, the doctors are able to fabricate surgical guides to use for implant treatment. Per a recent article in Dental Economics, "The Sirona Surgical Guide has stops that limit the depth of the drill and limit the depth of the implant. All guesswork is eliminated with the Surgical Guide. A position statement from the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology states, 'The AAOMR recommends that cross-sectional imaging be used for the assessment of all dental implant sites and that CBCT is the imaging method of choice for gaining this information.'"
